Our commitment
As an organization and as individuals, we value the varied experiences and perspectives of people, and commit ourselves to continuously promote a better understanding and appreciation of each other. This commitment makes our company stronger by bringing new and different thoughts and ideas to us.
The company
Jack in the Box values diversity at all levels and is committed to providing fair opportunities for everyone and to an inclusive, culturally sensitive and respectful environment strengthened through leadership, equitable policies and best practices.
Our company has more than 40,000 employees and serves more than a half-billion people annually at our restaurants. Those employees and guests, as well as our board of directors, franchise operators and other business partners comprise men and women from different nations, cultures, ethnic groups, generations, backgrounds, skills and abilities.
We embrace diversity in our restaurant communities and give generously of our time and resources to strengthen our neighborhoods. Our employees and franchisees actively lend their support as volunteers with nonprofit organizations and as major contributors to The Jack in the Box Foundation, which primarily helps children in need by funding worthwhile programs such as those provided by its primary charitable partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters. Some of the many other charities supported by The Foundation include Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Foundation also coordinates employee and franchisee fund-raising efforts, matched dollar for dollar by The Foundation, to benefit a variety of local, national and international causes, including 2005 relief efforts for the Asian tsunami and Hurricane Katrina that raised tens of thousands of dollars for the American Red Cross. Additionally, Jack in the Box directly supports community programs and needs, including America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization.

STARTED: 1978 AS AN ASSISTANT MANAGER TRAINEE
TODAY: DVP OF FRANCHISE OPERATIONS, SAN DIEGO
“I joined Jack in the Box shortly after completing four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy, including the last two years as a hospital corpsman (or 3rd class petty officer) aboard the USS Kittyhawk. Military service taught me a level of discipline that has enabled me to thrive in a corporate environment populated with such a diverse workforce. Working with so many people from different backgrounds and with varying levels of abilities, experience and education is not only personally rewarding, but our inclusive environment adds tremendous value to the organization.”
SYDNEY BOUNSAVATH
STARTED: 1992 AS A TEAM MEMBER
TODAY: RESTAURANT MANAGER, NASHVILLE
"When I was 8 years old, my family moved to Southern
California from Laos, so I grew up with Jack in the Box.
When I was in high school, I got a summer job as a
cashier at Jack 21 in San Diego. I eventually became a
restaurant manager, and a few years ago I transferred to
Nashville. It was a great way to take on a new challenge.
I love working with people of all different nationalities, and
the company provides great benefits. I want to stay here
as long as I can, because I like the way Jack in the Box
takes care of employees."
SEAN DUFF
STARTED: 2006 AS A SMALLWARES HANDLER
TODAY: ORDER PULLER, DALLAS
“I started working for Jack in the Box at the Dallas Distribution Center one week before Christmas in 2006. Jack has given me opportunities that I could not have found elsewhere. I have been deaf since birth, but I read lips and use American Sign Language. When I came to work for Jack and later when I changed positions within the warehouse, my boss brought in sign language consultants to help me with my training. I appreciate what Jack has done for me, and I intend to be with the company for a long time.”
SERGIO GUZMAN
STARTED: 1984 AS A TEAM MEMBER
TODAY: GENERAL MANAGER, HOUSTON
"I started working at Jack 604 in Houston when I was in
high school. With the exception of three years in the Army,
Jack in the Box is the only job I've ever had, and the
company has given me lots of opportunities to grow in my
career. My family - nine of us - moved to the U.S. from
Mexico, and seven of us have worked for Jack in the Box.
Today, my brother, Saul Guzman, is a general manager
and my sister, Nora Trevino, is a restaurant manager -
both in Brownsville, Texas. I also met my wife, Leticia,
at Jack in the Box, and how grateful I am."
OPIAH IZU
STARTED: 1982 AS A TEAM MEMBER
TODAY: AREA COACH, DALLAS
"When I joined Jack 762 in Arlington, Texas, I needed a job
to help pay for my next semester in college, and I also
wanted to send some money home to my family in Nigeria.
Jack in the Box was close to where I lived, and the company
offered me the flexibility to work and go to school
at the same time. Jack in the Box provides a great work
environment with people from all parts of the world, so
I've always felt very safe and comfortable. By the time I
finished college, I was very happy at Jack in the Box, and
I knew I could be very successful with this company, so I
decided to stay. And the best thing of all is that I met my
wife, Norma, at Jack in the Box."
