Marketplace
At Jack in the Box® restaurants, we strive to create a positive experience for each of our guests - from rendering friendly customer service to delivering hot, freshly made burgers and sandwiches. But before any burger is served and any guest greeted, a comprehensive, choreographed system combining food science, training and a myriad of operational initiatives is executed in an effort to achieve our core purpose: To exceed every guest's expectations.
Food Safety
Our Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) system encompasses farm-to-fork procedures for safe food handling and preparation in every restaurant. Introduced in 1993, the program is hailed as the gold standard in the fast-food industry by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Food & Drug Administration. And since Jack in the Box food products are supplied by outside vendors, the program also extends to our suppliers, who must also maintain HACCP systems, including proper cleanliness and food-safety procedures. Furthermore, we require our suppliers to certify that their animals have been raised on approved feed.
Over the years, our food-safety system has earned numerous awards and accolades, including two recent honors:
The 2004 Black Pearl Award
Presented by the International Association for Food Protection, and considered the food-safety “Oscar,” The Black Pearl Award is given annually to a company for its efforts in advancing food safety and quality.
2004 Food Safety Leadership Award
Presented by NSF International, a non-profit organization committed to food safety, this award recognizes outstanding achievements in food-service safety.
Animal Welfare
Though Jack in the Box Inc. does not raise or process animals, we expect all of our suppliers to follow recognized guidelines and regulations to ensure that all animals used for our products are treated humanely. We believe the abuse or neglect of animals is unacceptable. Animal Welfare is something we believe in, not only because it makes good business sense, but because it's simply the right thing to do.
Service and Quality
With various systems guaranteeing the safety of our products, Jack in the Box executes other programs to ensure the restaurants create a positive experience for our guests:
- The “Voice of the Guest” program provides randomly selected guests an opportunity to rate their dining experience by calling the phone number or logging onto the Web address printed on their order receipt and then answering questions ranging from food freshness to speed of service. As an incentive, Jack in the Box automatically enters all respondents’ names into a drawing for cash prizes.
- While Voice of the Guest evaluates restaurants from a guest’s perspective, our Quality, Food Safety & Cleanliness (QFC) program looks at the restaurants from the company’s perspective. At least once a quarter, each restaurant is visited by a QFC specialist, who follows the flow of food from its arrival at the restaurant to its delivery to guests, making sure guests get a great product every time. These specialists also make sure the appearance of the restaurant–inside and out–reflects the quality of the Jack in the Box brand.
Lifestyle Choices
To help our guests make educated menu choices, we offer “Build Your Meal,” a Web-based interactive nutrition counter. Want to know how many calories you can save by deleting a slice of cheese from an Ultimate Cheeseburger? Or how many carb grams you can cut by nixing the bun? Build Your Meal can quickly compute the information for you. Nutritional information brochures are also available by request in our restaurants.
