Diversity and Inclusion
Lenny Comma and Linda Lang

Jack in the Box values diversity at all levels and provides an inclusive, culturally sensitive and respectful environment strengthened through leadership, policies and best practices.

Our company has more than 35,000 employees, and Jack in the Box restaurants serve more than a half-billion people annually. Those employees and guests, as well as our board of directors, franchise operators and other business partners comprise men and women from different nations, cultures, ethnic groups, generations, backgrounds, skills and abilities.

We embrace our restaurant communities and give generously of our time and resources to strengthen our neighborhoods. Our employees and franchisees actively lend their support as volunteers with nonprofit organizations and as major contributors to The Jack in the Box Foundation, which primarily helps children in need by funding worthwhile programs such as those provided by its primary charitable partner, Big Brothers Big Sisters. Some of the many other charities supported by The Foundation include Children's Hospital, March of Dimes, Jr. Achievement and Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Foundation also coordinates employee and franchisee fundraising efforts, matched dollar for dollar by The Foundation, to benefit a variety of local, national and international causes. Additionally, Jack in the Box directly supports community programs and needs, including America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization.

As an organization and as individuals, we value the varied experiences and perspectives of people, and commit ourselves to continuously promote a better understanding and appreciation of each other. This commitment makes our company stronger through new and different thoughts and ideas.

“I started working for Jack in the Box at the Dallas Distribution Center one week before Christmas in 2006. Jack has given me opportunities that I could not have found elsewhere. I have been deaf since birth, but I read lips and use American Sign Language. When I came to work for Jack and later when I changed positions within the warehouse, my boss brought in sign language consultants to help me with my training. I appreciate what Jack has done for me, and I intend to be with the company for a long time.”

“When I joined Jack 762 in Arlington, Texas, I needed a job to help pay for my next semester in college, and I also wanted to send some money home to my family in Nigeria. Jack in the Box was close to where I lived, and the company offered me the flexibility to work and go to school at the same time. Jack in the Box provides a great work environment with people from all parts of the world, so I've always felt very safe and comfortable. By the time I finished college, I was very happy at Jack in the Box, and I knew I could be very successful with this company, so I decided to stay. And the best thing of all is that I met my wife, Norma, at Jack in the Box.”

“I've worked in fast food most of my life. (Linda is 66.) But when I was looking for a job a few years back, every place I applied told me I was overqualified. One day I stopped in at Jack in the Box and asked for an application. Luckily, I knew someone who was working there and she recommended me to the manager. I came in for an interview and was hired on the spot. I really enjoy my job, especially working with our regular customers and my young co-workers. We've got a great rapport - they even call me mom.”
