Corporate Responsibility

The Foundation

The Jack in the Box Foundation supports a variety of charitable organizations throughout the communities in which it does business.

Contrib Club

The Contrib Club has helped Jack in the Box employees for more than 30 years by offering emergency relief funds to employees who are victims of natural or personal disasters. The Contrib Club is funded by employee contributions to The Foundation.

Junior Achievement

Junior Achievement

The Jack in the Box Foundation has partnered with Junior Achievement (JA) for many years to help young people in San Diego understand the economics of life through hands-on learning experiences. Twice a year, Jack in the Box employees volunteer as teachers for a half-day at local elementary schools, where they educate students about the basic concepts of business, economics and how education is relevant to the workplace.

The Foundation also supports JA BizTown, a vibrant village in San Diego that JA uses to teach fifth-grade students about free enterprise and commerce. Thanks to a donation from The Foundation, Jack in the Box is one of 20 businesses that "lease" space in the 10,000 square-foot town, which is designed to resemble a small-scale San Diego. After completing 30 hours of classroom preparation, students apply for jobs and work at the different businesses. The BizTown Jack, which has its own CEO and CFO, serves up popcorn, sodas and antenna balls to hungry guests.

March of Dimes

March of Dimes

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. The Foundation supports the March of Dimes through monetary donations and organizing employee participation in the March of Dimes' yearly March for Babies charity walk.

Preuss School

Preuss School

Located on the UCSD campus, The Preuss School is a public middle and high school dedicated to providing an intensive college-prep education for motivated low-income students who would become the first in their families to graduate from college. The Foundation supports the school through annual donations and student scholarships. It also sponsors "Jack's Bus," which transports students from the City Heights area to and from school.

Monarch School

Monarch School

Founded in 1988, Monarch School is dedicated to providing homeless and at-risk children with an accredited education while caring for their basic needs. Today, more than 100 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 are enrolled at Monarch School in downtown San Diego. The Foundation has helped the school fund several capital projects, including "Jack's Kitchen," where breakfast and lunch are prepped for students. The Foundation also supports the school's annual fundraising gala and supplies food, coupons and volunteer support for school activities.

Children's Hospitals

Children's Hospitals

Every year, Jack in the Box corporate and restaurant employees select regional charities they want The Jack in the Box Foundation to support. Children's Hospital is consistently the top choice in many Jack in the Box markets. The Foundation supports various Children's Hospitals throughout the country with annual donations. It also sponsors therapeutic video-game programs for pre-surgical patients at hospitals in Dallas, Houston, San Diego and St. Louis.

Midway Classroom

USS Midway Education Program

For 47 years, the USS Midway aircraft carrier proudly served the United States Navy. Today, thanks in part to The Jack in the Box Foundation, the Midway continues its tradition of service through a variety of educational programs, including a unique, on-board classroom where second- and third-grade students learn math and social studies.

Habitat for Humanity

More than 100 Jack in the Box employees have volunteered on building projects sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate homelessness by providing safe, decent and affordable shelter. The Foundation also provides financial support to Habitat for Humanity, including a recent donation to help a family whose home was destroyed in last year's wildfires in San Diego.

YMCA

The Jack in the Box Foundation supports YMCAs in San Diego through annual donations. It also sponsored the Toby Wells YMCA fitness center, which is named after Jack, our fictional founder and ad spokesman.

In addition to the organizations listed above, other beneficiaries of The Jack in the Box Foundation include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, San Diego Hospice, Miracle League of San Diego, and America's Second Harvest,

Operation Bigs

In 2004, The Jack in the Box Foundation helped launch Operation Bigs, a program on Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in Southern California that provides mentors, primarily from the military, to children with parents serving overseas. The program, the first of its kind in the U.S., brings Bigs and Littles together each week to read, play sports and games or just talk.

Hermandad

The Jack in the Box Foundation supports Hispanic mentoring efforts in communities throughout the U.S. In San Diego County, the Foundation helped launch Hermandad, a Big Brothers Big Sisters' initiative that helps youth from the county's growing Latino community realize their potential through supportive, one-to-one mentoring relationships with Latino Bigs.
